Biography of Mark Janssen, author and illustrator of the children's picture books "Want to Know. The Bicycle", “Where is Bear Going?“ published by Clavis Publishing, New York.
Mark Janssen (Eijsden, The Netherlands 1974) studied at the Art Academy in Maastricht. After graduating in 1997 he established himself as a full time illustrator in Valkenburg a/d Geul, where he has a homestudio.
Mark makes illustrations for both children and adults publications. From his first children’s book Mijn vriend de sjeik of Ulf Stark (Lemniscaat 1997) to 2014, he illustrated up to 240 children- and picturebooks for almost all major Dutch and Belgian publishers. Many of his books have already found their way abroad and have been translated into over 10 languages.
He is the illustrator of the successful soccer series: Kief, De Voetbalgoden and De Voetbalbengels.
Meanwhile, he also published the first books for early readers for which he provided both the text and the drawings: vuur van tuur, Hiep, hiep, daar is Piep!, de boot van sint en piet, bas is de baas! en Blijf van big af! (Zwijsen 2013).
